Current research
A living note on what I am currently working on.
I am currently developing a Foodshed Information Service that connects crop production with climate variability and change. The aim is to support stakeholders in making decisions about food availability by considering how production, trade, climate, and food demand interact across spatial and temporal scales.
The work has four connected parts:
- Establishing a foodshed analysis framework to assess food system resilience and security.
- Developing a seasonal crop yield forecasting system coupling LPJmL with ECMWF seasonal forecasts.
- Assessing integrated impacts on foodsheds under different Shared Socioeconomic Pathways.
- Evaluating the Foodshed Information Service web tool, which I am developing to integrate the components of my research.
My research is part of the SAFE4ALL project, which aims to address the interconnected issues of food security, climate change, ecosystem and disaster management, and migration in three co-creation case studies: Kenya, Ghana, and Zimbabwe. In this article, we describe the workshops we held in Ghana to identify foodshed risks and indicators and refine crop calendars and crop-specific critical moments.
